The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is confident of retaining power in Gujarat, while the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is hoping to make a strong debut, and the Congress, which has been absent from the hectic campaigning, is hoping for a favourable verdict as the counting of votes in the Assembly elections begins.

Gujarat’s assembly elections were held in two stages on December 1 and 5. By the end of the second phase of the Gujarat elections, the approximate voter turnout was 59.11 percent. Gujarat had a turnout of 63.14 percent during the first voting phase.

Exit polls in Gujarat have shown a comfortable victory for the incumbent Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) days after the election results.

The BJP has ruled Gujarat for 27 years, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi serving as Chief Minister for the longest time before becoming Prime Minister.

In the 2017 assembly elections, Congress party fought hard against the ruling BJP. However, AAP may sabotage Congress’s chances by stealing a big vote share in their favour.

The Gujarat Assembly election vote counting will begin at 8 a.m. All 37 counting centres have elaborate arrangements in place.
