Delhi Manish Sisodia, deputy chief minister, travelled to a Punjab National Bank (PNB) location in Ghaziabad on Tuesday so Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) could examine his locker as part of its investigation into suspected irregularities in the now-retracted excise policy for the capital.
His wife accompanied Sisodia. In conjunction with the current investigation into the suspected fraud in the recently dropped excise policy of the Aam Aadmi Party administration, CBI agents will inspect his locker.
According to a CBI officer, various searches were carried out last week at 21 locations in Delhi and the National Capital Region, including Manish Sisodia’s home and the workplaces of four public employees. According to the official, raids took place in 7 different states.
After that, Sisodia tweeted: “We are genuinely creating a future for thousands of kids. It is unfortunate that in this nation, everybody who performs good job gets hassled in this way, which is why our nation is still not ranked first.”
Sisodia’s inquiry was conducted in light of a report that the Chief Secretary of Delhi sent to Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, urging the CBI to look into the situation.
LG office said that Sisodia gave financial favours to licensees of alcoholic beverages long after the bids had been chosen, resulting in significant losses to the exchequer.
In the midst of the fatal Delta Covid-19 epidemic in 2021, the excise policy was approved by the Delhi Cabinet, which is led by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. According to Delhi government, policy was created to promote maximum revenue generation, end the sale of counterfeit or duty-exempt alcohol in Delhi, and enhance user experience.
Following LG’s advice, Economic Offence Wing (EOW) of Delhi Police Assistant Commissioner’s office sent a notice to Delhi’s Excise Commissioner requesting all records pertaining to the awarding of liquor licences under the new excise policy.
