Former chief minister and Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray is expected to address the issue at a press conference this afternoon. Meanwhile, the opposition NCP has advised Koshyari to be careful with his words.

On Friday, Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari sparked outrage by saying that if Gujaratis and Rajasthanis were removed from the state, it would be left with no money.

Koshyari told a crowd in Mumbai’s Andheri, “… if Gujarati and Rajasthani people are removed from Maharashtra, especially Mumbai and Thane, there will be no money left here.” You call Mumbai the financial capital, but it won’t be called that if these (Gujarati and Rajasthani) people aren’t here.”

Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut condemned the Governor’s remarks, saying he insulted hardworking Marathi people. “The Marathi man is being insulted soon after the BJP-backed Chief Minister came to power,” Raut tweeted.
