Odisha Health Minister Naba Kishore Shot At By Cop, Critically Injured

Odisha’s Health and Family Welfare Minister Naba Kishore was shot at by an Assistant Sub-Inspector of police in Jharsuguda district on 29th January.

Odisha’s Health and Family Welfare Minister Naba Kishore was shot at by an Assistant Sub-Inspector of police in Jharsuguda district on 29th January at around 1PM. The Minister sustained bullet injuries on the chest and was immediately rushed to the hospital. 

The cop who shot at the Minister has been identified as ASI Gopal Das.

Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik has ordered a CID probe into the attack on the State Health and Family Welfare Minister.  

‘Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police (ASI) Gopal Das opened fire at the Minister. The Minister is injured and rushed to hospital,’ Brajrajnagar SDPO Gupteswar Bhoi stated. 

The ASI was deployed to look after the security arrangements of the event. He was in close proximity of the minister and fired at least four to five bullets when the Minister stepped out of his car at Gandhi square. 

The reason for the firing in unclear so far. ASI has been taken into custody and is being interrogated.
