According to media reports, Twitter had a massive outage on Thursday when many users tried to sign in to its web version and were confronted with an error message.

When users attempted to access the microblogging site in the early hours of Thursday, they were faced with an error notification. According to Downdetector, which records website outages, more than 8,700 people reported difficulties with the site as of 7:30 a.m. EST (12:30 p.m. GMT).

“User reports indicate Twitter has been experiencing issues since 7:13 EST,” Downdetector tweeted.

The outage comes just two months after Elon Musk purchased Twitter for USD 44 billion.

Elon Musk, the world’s richest man and Tesla CEO, has dramatically reduced the platform’s workforce, created a premium membership programme, and oversaw disputed changes to its moderation methods.

Musk has recently chosen to modify Twitter policies, stating that the new Twitter standards will follow and challenge science.
