Two additional foreign militants killed in another Poonch Encounter

During the night between Tuesday and Wednesday, security forces thwarted an attempt at infiltration along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch’s Mandi area, killing two terrorists, according to officials.

Jammu-based defense spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Suneel Bartwal said, “Two terrorists were observed crossing the LoC and entering Indian territory on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday in the Mandi area. A joint operation was launched by the army and police to intercept the terrorists. The terrorists, while using hostile terrain, dense jungle, and steep gradient to their advantage, brought down heavy fire on the troops. In the firefight which continued till Wednesday, both the terrorists were eliminated.”

He reported the retrieval of one militant’s body and seized weapons and ammunition from the encounter location.

“Search operation for recovering body of second terrorist is in progress,” he added

Security forces eliminated a terrorist and incurred injuries to a policeman and a soldier during a clash in the Gali Sohab area of Reasi district on Monday.

Furthermore, on September 3, the Army effectively neutralized an improvised explosive device (IED) in the identical vicinity.
