According to reports, 53 AAP MLAs out of 62 attended a meeting called by party supremo and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday to examine alleged BJP poaching tactics. The discussion, which was slated to begin at 11 a.m., was over in a matter of minutes, they claimed, adding that all 62 Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MPs in Delhi had been called in advance of the meeting at Kejriwal’s house.
Leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have ridiculed the AAP’s “poaching” accusation, calling it a “public stunt” by Kejriwal’s party. Manoj Tiwari, a BJP MP, claimed the AAP is attempting to distract public attention and questioned Kejriwal’s “silence” on the Delhi excise policy.
The saffron party plans to protest the excise policy scandal in 19 different locations throughout Delhi today. Protests will be held in several areas by leaders such as Adesh Gupta, Gautam Gambhir, and Manoj Tiwari.
In its FIR, the CBI listed Sisodia, who handles the Excise portfolio, as one of the suspects in its investigation into suspected anomalies in the execution of the Kejriwal government’s new excise police. Last Saturday, the agency also raided the Deputy CM’s apartment.
AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj a day before accused the BJP of allegedly offering ₹20 crores to party MLAs to “bring down” the Kejriwal-led government in the national capital.
