Ukraine has offered a $100 billion deal to purchase US weapons, financed by European allies, in exchange for firm American security guarantees following a potential peace settlement with Russia, the Financial Times reported on Monday.

Details Of The Deal

According to a document obtained by the publication, Kyiv outlined plans not only to buy US arms but also to strike a separate $50 billion joint drone-production agreement with American companies.

The proposals were shared with European partners ahead of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s White House meeting with President Donald Trump, four sources familiar with the matter told the FT.

“Ukraine will promise to buy USD 100 billions of US weapons financed by Europe,” the document states. In return, Kyiv seeks binding US security guarantees as part of any post-war settlement.

What is Ukraine Buying From US?

While the list does not specify the complete range of arms under consideration, Ukrainian officials have consistently requested at least 10 US-made Patriot air defense systems to protect cities and critical infrastructure, in addition to other missiles and military equipment.

The proposed drone initiative remains vague, with no clear division between procurement and investment. Officials, however, describe it as central to strengthening Ukraine’s domestic defense industry in partnership with Washington.

Zelensky, EU Leaders Praise Trump’s Peace Efforts

European leaders commended President Trump on Monday for taking a “big step” toward securing peace between Russia and Ukraine, applauding his pledge to support security guarantees for Kyiv as part of a possible resolution to the continent’s deadliest war in 80 years.

In the Oval Office, Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky presented a cordial front to the world’s media, avoiding a repeat of their tense February encounter. Zelensky extended an invitation for Trump to participate in potential talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“If you want me there, I’ll be there,” Trump said at the start of a meeting that included leaders from the European Commission, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, NATO, and the United Kingdom.

Zelensky Thanks Trump During White House Meet

Trump also noted Zelensky’s choice to wear a military-style suit – a departure from his typical wartime camouflage attire – as a sign of respect. Zelensky publicly thanked Trump for his peace efforts more than a dozen times during his remarks, contrasting February’s criticism from Vice President JD Vance, who said Zelensky had shown insufficient gratitude.

After the remaining seven participants joined Trump and Zelensky in the East Room, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte – nicknamed “The Trump Whisperer” – praised the US president’s approach.

“The fact that you have said, ‘I’m willing to participate in security guarantees’ is a big step – it is really a breakthrough, and it makes all the difference,” Rutte said. “Thank you for that.”
