After a big opening weekend, things aren’t looking too great for Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR’s action film War 2. The movie made a lot of noise in its first few days, thanks to the Independence Day holiday and all the hype.
Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR Film Earns ₹208 Cr Gross in 5 Days, But ₹8.5 Cr Monday Drop Raises Concerns
But come Monday, it started to lose the rage it began with. The film earned only around ₹8.5 crore on its first Monday and it is a noticeable big drop from the weekend numbers.
The film managed to make ₹183.25 crore in net domestic earnings over its opening five days, alongside a gross tally of ₹208.25 crore, and held up to ₹274 crore worldwide The Hindi version led the charge, bringing in around ₹125.5 crore, with Jr NTR’s Telugu fanbase adding approximately ₹47.5 crore; the Tamil version, however, contributed just ₹1.2 crore
That’s still a big number, but with such a sharp fall so early, it’s got people wondering if the film will keep up in the coming days. While the Hindi version brought in most of the money, the Telugu version also did well thanks to Jr NTR’s massive fan base. The Tamil version didn’t bring in much.
Rajinikanth’s Coolie Crosses ₹200 Crore Mark, Outpaces War 2 Amid Monday Box Office Dips
Meanwhile, Rajinikanth’s Coolie is doing much better. Even though it also saw a dip on Monday, the film has already crossed ₹200 crore in India. That’s a strong sign that people are still coming out to watch it in large numbers.
What’s clear from this is that star power and big promotions don’t always guarantee long-term success. War 2 came in with high expectations, especially as part of the YRF Spy Universe, but the early signs show that the film might not be able to hold its ground if things continue this way.
There’s still time for a turnaround, though. The coming weekend will be important for both films. Let’s see if War 2 can pick up the pace again or if Coolie continues to lead the race.
