Officials have reported that the Assam Rifles have seized 452 kg of marijuana valued at Rs 1.92 crore from West Tripura District. They stated that a joint operation was conducted by the Assam Rifles and the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) on Thursday following credible information received. The team located the marijuana in an old store warehouse and the nearby forest area. Subsequently, the seized contraband was handed over to the DRI for further investigation and legal proceedings.

Earlier in January, the Assam Rifles, in collaboration with representatives from the State Police and Tripura State Rifles, successfully destroyed 30,000 illegal marijuana plantations valued at Rs 1.05 crore in General Area Lembucherra of Tripura. The Headquarters Inspector General of Assam Rifles (HQ IGAR) (East) announced on Sunday the continuation of their efforts against drugs and illegal marijuana plantations. Approximately 30,000 fully grown illegal marijuana plants were eradicated and incinerated, with an estimated market value of Rs 1.05 crore, as per the statement.
