The strong fog impacted aircraft routes such as Delhi-Riyadh, Delhi-Shimla-Kullu, Delhi-Varanasi, Delhi-Dharamshala-Srinagar, Delhi-Shimla-Dharamshala, and Delhi-Dehradun.

Residents in the national capital, who have been dealing with a cold wave since the beginning of the year, awoke to a chilly morning with frigid waves on Sunday.

Around 6.10 a.m. on Sunday, Safdarjung recorded a low temperature of 5.6 degrees Celsius.

The visibility in Palam was 200 metres at 6.10 a.m., according to the Meteorological Department.

Dense to extremely dense fog was seen across areas of Punjab, Northwest Rajasthan, Jammu division, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Tripura, according to the IMD prediction.

The India Meteorological Department said “A dense/very dense fog layer (in the white patch) spans from Punjab to Bihar to Haryana, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh.”

Earlier on Sunday and Monday, the IMD issued an orange signal for dense fog and cold temperatures in neighboring Punjab and Haryana.

Meanwhile, the Northern Railway reported that 20 trains were running late due to fog on Sunday.
