Six Arrested in Maharashtra For Counterfeit Currency Production In Pune

At least six people were arrested for allegedly producing and distributing fake Rs 500 notes and authorities seized 440 notes worth over Rs 2 lakh in Pune city.

The accused, Ritik Khadse, Suraj Yadav, Akash Dhangekar, Suyog Salunkhe, Tejas Ballal and Pravan Gahvane, were arrested from Dehu Road Police Station, Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Station, Pune District.

The arrest was based on reliable sources, which led the police to lay a trap in the Dehu Road area. Police found 140 fake Rs 500 notes during the search after catching a criminal riding a motorbike at the designated spot.

The subsequent interrogation of one of the accused, Ritik Khadse, revealed that forged documents were produced at the factory. The business center is located in Bhosali area using offset printing machine.

Six defendants are currently in police custody and investigations are ongoing. All the prisoners are being held under the jurisdiction of Pune in the state of Maharashtra, although there is no evidence of international links.

One of the defendants explained during the interrogation that they started buying an offset printer to print the map, but later they were influenced by the content on social media.

Dehu Road Police Station has registered a case under Sections 489(c) and 34 of the Indian Penal Code against the accused and is investigating the matter further.
