According to the White House, Biden administration is relieved that India and China rapidly retreated after fighting in Arunachal Pradesh’s Tawang area.
During a news conference on Tuesday (local time) White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre stated that the US is carefully following the situation and encourages both sides to use established bilateral channels to negotiate disputed borders.
Karine Jean-Pierre commented on India-China tensions saying “We are relieved that both parties have immediately departed from the conflict. We are closely following the situation and encourage India and China to use existing bilateral channels to resolve boundary disputes.”
A clash between Indian and Chinese forces in Arunachal Pradesh’s Tawang region on Friday resulted in minor casualties on both sides.
The Indian forces stationed in the battle zone responded appropriately to the Chinese troops.
The number of injured Chinese soldiers in the confrontation exceeds the number of injured Indian forces.
According to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Indian Army personnel heroically prevented the Chinese Army from crossing the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Yangtse region of Arunachal’s Tawang sector on December 9.
While speaking in Parliament, the Defence Minister on Tuesday stated “I’d want to reassure the House that no Indian soldiers were killed or seriously injured. I further tell the House that our Army is capable of defending the territorial integrity of the country. Our Army is prepared to deal with any infraction. I am certain that the House will support our armed personnel’ bravery and heroism.”
PLA forces battled with three units of the Indian Army belonging to separate infantry regiments in the face-off between Indian and Chinese troops in Yangtse in the Tawang sector of Arunachal Pradesh, thwarting their effort to change the status quo on the Line of Actual Control.
