War 2, which was one of the most anticipated releases of 2025, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR, has crashed at the box office, sparking rumours of Telugu distributor Naga Vamsi quitting the industry. His cryptic X post, “Sorry to disappoint you all, but inka aa time raaledu… minimum inko 10-15 years undi,” stoked this premise. Is this real? Let’s dive into Vamsi’s tweet!

War 2: A High-Stakes Gamble That Went Awry
With an enormous budget of whopping Rs 300-400 crores, War 2 was all set for a pan-India blockbuster. But even after Ayan Mukherji’s direction and star studded cast including Kiara Advani and Anil Kapoor, the film was not able to reach the hearts of the fans.
But the film was not able to match the expectations of the audiences, it received criticism and backlash for its poor script, shoddy VFX and pacing. The movie made nearly Rs 200 crores in the domestic market since its release on August 14, 2025 and Rs 300 crores worldwide, however, it was said to be underwhelming due to having Rajinikanth’s Coolie as its competitor in pre-sales and IMAX bookings.
Since he had hyped up the film before release, Naga Vamsi, the distributor of the Telugu version, is now under intense scrutiny for this underperformance.
Naga Vamsi’s Reaction to Trolls
Rumours about Naga Vamsi’s eventual exit from the industry as a result of his massive financial losses became circulating due to the silence he maintained on his social media accounts immediately after the filming event.
The web exploded with endless trolling. Some even circulated the “box-office scam” stories that were allegedly meant to deflate numbers. To the trolls, on X, Vamsi clapped back denying the speculation, adding he was getting back to cinema for at least another decade. “X lo manchi writers unnaru” was his response mocking the speculative tales while hyping his next undertaking, #MassJathara. This bold return proved that he has nerves of steel even when the film does not do well.
What Next in the YRF Spy Universe?
This failure of War 2 puts the YRF Spy Universe in a questionable precedent. Fans felt that Jr. NTR is underutilized in the film, which added to their deductions that the film had no soul, one post on X mentioned it was the “weakest” in the franchise.
The little excitement generated by a leaked post-credits scene featuring Bobby Deol in Alpha as the main antagonist needed YRF to get down and dirty with the scripting and VFX to win back trust. Will the series finally be salvaged by War 3? Only time will tell.
