His arrest came two days after protests in Ladakh demanding inclusion under the Sixth Schedule turned violent. On Wednesday, the agitation escalated into violence, leaving four people dead and several others injured in Leh.
Internet Services Suspended After Arrest
Following Wangchuk’s arrest, authorities suspended internet services in Leh to curb the spread of rumors and maintain law and order. Police and security forces have been deployed in large numbers to control further unrest. The situation in Ladakh remains tense, as people continue to press for constitutional safeguards under the Sixth Schedule.
