The Indian government claims that the “News Headlines” YouTube channel has been distributing false information against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Supreme Court of India, the Chief Justice of India, and the Election Commission.
The Press Information Bureau (PIB) reports that the YouTube channel has 32 crore views and 10 lakh subscribers. According to a tweet from the PIB Fact check handle, Prime Minister, the Supreme Court of India, the Chief Justice of India, and the Election Commission of India are all targets of ‘Fake News’ being spread by the YouTube channel “News Headlines. “This #YouTube channel has almost 10 lakh subscribers and 32 crore views,” the handle wrote.
According to the fake news that the YouTube channel is accused of distributing, elections would be held on ballot paper “under the directives of the Chief Justice of India. Additionally, it has disseminated false information that the Uttar Pradesh Assembly’s 131 seats will be up for re-election.
Earlier, it had also stated that Nitin Gadkari, the union minister for roads and highways, had left the BJP and joined the Congress.
The nodal agency’s fact-checking staff speaks with the media on behalf of the Indian government. It is effective at spotting fake news spreading on social media and the channels linked to it and alerting users not to believe it.
