The Election Commission of India on March 16th, unveiled the dates and the number of phases in which the country will be voting in the upcoming Lok Sabha 2024 elections.

These elections, spanning all states and union territories, will take place over seven phases, commencing on April 19. While 22 states and UTs will conduct voting on a single polling day, three states—Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and West Bengal—will carry out voting across all seven phases.

Notably, the majority of UTs will vote in a single phase, except for Jammu and Kashmir, which will vote on five separate polling dates.

The following States and UTs will have only one polling date (total 22):

Arunachal Pradesh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Andhra Pradesh, Chandigarh, Delhi, Goa, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Kerala, Lakshadweep, Ladakh, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Puducherry, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Telangana, Uttarakhand, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu.

States and UTs with two polling dates (4):

– Karnataka
– Rajasthan
– Tripura
– Manipur

States and UTs with three polling dates (2):

– Chhattisgarh
– Assam

States and UTs with four polling dates (3):

– Odisha
– Madhya Pradesh
– Jharkhand

States and UTs with five polling dates (2):

– Maharashtra
– Jammu and Kashmir

States and UTs with seven polling dates (3):

– Uttar Pradesh
– Bihar
– West Bengal

However, voting for phase 1 is scheduled for April 19, phase 2 for April 26, phase 3 for May 7, phase 4 for May 13, phase 5 for May 20, phase 6 for May 25, and phase 7 for June 1.
