Due to the upcoming national Lok Sabha elections and various festive celebrations in the city, the Lucknow city administration has opted to implement Section 144 until May 17. Mr. Upendra Kumar Aggarwal, the Deputy Commissioner of Police responsible for Law and Order, explained that the code of conduct becomes active upon the announcement of election dates.

Additionally, with religious festivals such as Holi and Ramzan approaching in the coming months, there is a heightened need for this measure.

– Prohibition on including music bands in processions

– Prohibition on organizing social gatherings without prior approval

The bypoll for four assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh will coincide with the Lok Sabha elections, announced the state’s Chief Electoral Officer, Navdeep Rinwa, on Saturday. The four assembly constituencies where the by-elections will occur are Lucknow East, Dadraul in Shahjahanpur district, Gainsari in Balrampur district, and Duddhi in Sonbhadra district.

The Lok Sabha elections will be conducted in seven phases starting from April 19, with vote counting slated for June 4. Uttar Pradesh, contributing 80 MPs to the Lok Sabha, will witness polling in all seven phases.

Navdeep Rinwa, Uttar Pradesh’s Chief Electoral Officer, revealed that voting in the Dadraul assembly constituency will take place on May 13, coinciding with the fourth phase of the Lok Sabha elections.

The polling for the Lucknow East assembly constituency is scheduled for May 20, coinciding with the fifth phase of the general elections.

Voters in the Gainsari assembly seat will cast their votes in the bypoll on May 25, aligning with the sixth phase of the Lok Sabha polls. Additionally, the byelections in the Duddhi Assembly segment are set for June 1, coinciding with the seventh phase of the general elections.
