This award-winning performance of Shah Rukh Khan Jawan fetched him the prized Best Actor Award at the recently concluded 71st National Film Awards. This has been SRK’s first-ever National Award, making this occasion all the more historic for one of the most loved and talented actors in India, as this was much anticipated.

In addition to solidifying Shah Rukh Khan’s place as a cultural icon, his National Award victory also illustrates how Indian cinema is changing and how mainstream performers are now at last winning praise from critics.  The victory is being celebrated by fans and other industry professionals as a long-overdue milestone in Bollywood history.
