Back in 2000, the worlds of Bollywood and Hollywood collided in a way that still gets movie buffs talking.
Picture this: Shah Rukh Khan, charming as ever, sharing the stage with Angelina Jolie at London’s Millennium Dome for an international awards show. Not exactly your average Tuesday night.
The hosts, Anupam Kher and Yukta Mookhey, kept things lively, but the real highlight was this moment: SRK, that infectious grin on full display, walked out holding hands with Jolie. He greeted the crowd, tossing in a sly, “This is really, really nice. And yes, more so now, because I’m in the company of Angelina.” Jolie, true to form, blushed and pulled off a shy “Namaste, India,” which honestly just melted everyone in the room.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam cleaned up that night for Best Film, Best Director, Best Dialogue, Best Choreography, Best Cinematography, and a couple of sound awards.
Aishwarya Rai, who took home Best Actress, couldn’t make it, so Bhansali showed up to grab the trophy. SRK, never one to let a good joke pass, made sure to clarify for Angelina, “We have to make sure that Angelina knows this is not Aishwarya Rai.” This left Angelina Jolie smiling.
If you’re not clued in, Aishwarya and SRK have teamed up on some huge movies like Mohabbatein, Josh, Devdas, just to name a few.
Fast forward to now: Shah Rukh’s got his hands full. He is currently gearing up for King, his first film with his daughter Suhana, set to hit screens worldwide in 2026.
On top of that, he’s hyping up his son Aryan’s directorial debut, The Ba***ds of Bollywood, dropping on Netflix this September.
