After a 32 hour long discussion on Operation Sindoor in Lok Sabha, Parliament proceedings is all set to restart on Wednesday (July 30, 2025) 11 am. Yesterday, Home Minister Amit Shah opened the Lok Sabha debate with details of Operation Mahadev.
A special discussion of 32 hours on Operation Sindoor in Lok Sabha ends with a fierce speech by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Parliament debates on Tuesday remained centered around the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, along with counter-operations named Operation Sindoor and Operation Mahadev. Both Houses witnessed intense exchanges between the ruling and opposition parties over national security concerns and the government’s response.
PM Modi On Indus Waters Treaty:
“If the treaty was not signed, there were major projects on the western river. There was no scarcity of water. Even after that, Nehru gave Pakistan crores of rupees so that it can build canals,’ said PM Modi.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah began the discussion in the Lok Sabha by presenting details of Operation Mahadev, which resulted in the elimination of three terrorists involved in the Pahalgam attack. He criticised Congress MP P. Chidambaram for demanding proof of the attackers’ Pakistani links. Shah reaffirmed that the terrorists neutralised were directly connected to the Pahalgam incident.
Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav addressed the House next. He raised doubts over the timing of Operation Mahadev and referred to Operation Sindoor as a reflection of the government’s failure in gathering intelligence. “Who will take responsibility for the intelligence lapse that led to the Pahalgam attack?” he asked in the Lok Sabha.
Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also took part in the debate, targeting the central government over the absence of security forces in Pahalgam at the time of the attack. “Yesterday, the Defence Minister spoke for an hour on terrorism, national defence, and gave a historical account. But he did not explain how the Pahalgam attack happened,” she said.
Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi later joined the discussion in the Lok Sabha. He questioned why Pakistan was notified of the Operation Sindoor strikes just minutes after they occurred. “You entered Pakistan and instructed our pilots not to target their air defence systems. It was inevitable that our aircraft would be shot down. You tied our pilots’ hands,” he claimed. Rahul Gandhi also demanded that Prime Minister Modi publicly call out Donald Trump for falsely claiming he mediated a ceasefire between India and Pakistan—an assertion India has officially denied multiple times.
In the evening, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Lok Sabha. He began by commending the armed forces for the swift execution of Operation Sindoor, saying, “April 22 was avenged in 22 minutes.” He credited the operation for delivering a strong message against terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The Prime Minister also criticised the opposition for questioning the timing of Operation Mahadev and accused the Congress of relying on Pakistan’s narrative in matters of national security.
