Scottie Scheffler secured a thrilling comeback victory at the BMW Championship and he did it without his longtime caddy, Ted Scott. In Scott’s absence, Scheffler brought in a temporary replacement: Michael Cromie, a close friend of Scott’s and a trusted figure in Scheffler’s circle. While many expected the sudden caddy change to disrupt his rhythm, Scheffler instead thrived, delivering a composed and confident performance throughout the tournament.

A Win Without the Usual Duo

Scheffler was quick to praise Cromie’s contribution, emphasizing the trust and communication that developed between them over the weekend. “Cromie is a guy that works hard. He does his prep work, and he was an easy guy for me to trust out there,” Scheffler told the media. The pair worked in sync, especially during the back nine when things got tense. Staying calm and committed to their strategy, they managed to close out the tournament in strong fashion. Their chemistry proved that even a temporary partnership can deliver under pressure when the foundation is built on trust and preparation.

Cromie Earns Scheffler’s Trust

Despite some opinions that a caddy’s role is minimal for top golfers, Scheffler stressed how crucial Cromie’s support was. The duo’s ability to communicate clearly and remain patient during critical moments was key to Scheffler’s success. “We did a good job of talking through our shots and staying patient, even when things were looking a little squirrelly,” Scheffler explained.

Ted Scott’s Return Still Uncertain

Though Cromie proved capable, Scheffler’s longtime caddy Ted Scott remains on leave due to personal family matters. Scheffler acknowledged he doesn’t yet know when Scott will return, leaving the door open for Cromie’s continued presence in the near term. For now, Scheffler is confident with the strong partnership he’s built at the BMW Championship, adding another impressive win to his season.
