Delhi Weather Today: A few areas in Delhi got rainfall on May 23, 2026, and it did give a quick bit of relief from the really intense summer heat. But even after the showers , weather officials are still warning about a possible heatwave. They said temperatures could hit around 45 degrees Celsius and they may stay high for most of the day. Also this sudden shift in the Delhi atmosphere looks to have brought overcast skies, sharp winds, and that kind of sticky humidity you can really feel around the national capital. Residents are being asked to keep checking the latest weather forecast, plus watch for new alerts as they come in.
Will it Rain Today in Delhi on May 23?
As per an IMD scientist, a western disturbance has started and it is impacting north India, including the Himalayan stretch. Satellite images from the INSAT-3DS weather satellite taken on May 21, showed a big cloud patch around India, mostly near Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Those images also suggested moisture is moving in from the Arabian Sea, and at the same time the cloud activity was picking up over northeast India, along with parts of the Bay of Bengal.
In the IMD’s latest weather update, many locations across the southeast Bay of Bengal and over the Andaman Sea were under cloud cover, with heavy thunderstorm activity going on. Similar patterns were also seen over the central and southern Arabian Sea.
Because of this western disturbance, states such as Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and western Uttar Pradesh might get rainfall over the next few days. Still, weather experts say it’s not fully clear yet how strong the system will become or what kind of impact it will have.
