Sheamus and Rusev are going to clash in a blazing battle at the end of August in the Clash in Paris Premium Live Event. It is a beef that both heavyweights have been brewing throughout the whole year and fans will now have a match that has a special stipulation.
Sheamus vs Rusev confirmed for Paris showdown
The competition flared up again earlier this year, when Rusev returned to the WWE. Both stars have since traded victories on Raw and even fought to a draw of double count outs, as each star would not allow the other to walk away with the bragging rights.
The conflict has overspilled the ring. Sheamus vs Rusev has gone into backstage fights, in-ring distractions and heated exchanges that interfered with other matches. This week on Raw, they were at it again, as they revealed their hatred to the fullest before officials came out to stop another wild brawl.
That triggered Raw General Manager Adam Pearce to make a final call. Rather than a third unfinished fight, the two opponents will duke it out in an Old Fashioned Donnybrook Brawl at WWE Clash in Paris. The two gentlemen made the condition and their oath a fatal, desperate duel.
History between Sheamus and Rusev
Sheamus and Rusev used to be allies and their history dates back years. They belonged to the faction that was a part of the League of Nations and even betrayed The New Day at WrestleMania 32. Their reconciliation has not been friendly, however.
Rusev reversed his decision in 2020 and traded the WWE organization to AEW where he now goes by the name Miro. His stint with Tony Khan company earned him the TNT Championship, yet he did not last much on the television. In the meantime, Sheamus remained in the WWE and piled up some tag team titles and other mid-card titles.
The two paths meet once again and their personal history and competitive pride are the preludes to what is sure to be a bloody confrontation. Probably, the fans in Paris will witness one of the most violent encounters of the year.
WWE Clash in Paris match card
It is turning out to be one of the biggest spectacles of the year because of the WWE clash in Paris event. The matches that have been confirmed are John Cena vs. Logan Paul, and an enormous Fatal Four-way in which Seth Rollins, CM Punk, Jey Uso, and LA Knight will compete to become the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion.
It is also being speculated that there could be a WWE Women World Championship match. Stephanie Vaquer, who got a chance by winning the Battle Royal at Evolution, is said to compete for the title on the big arena as well.
Old Fashioned Donnybrook Brawl between Sheamus and Rusev is just an addition to the already heavy-laden line-up.
Paris hosts Cena’s retirement tour
Clash in Paris will be hosted in the Paris La Defense Arena in Nanterre, France and broadcast live in the U.S. on Peacock and other countries through Netflix. It is also part of the retirement tour of John Cena which will see him wrestle in France only once and in a major WWE event.
The farewell of Cena and the match between Sheamus and Rusev is certainly going to be a bloodthirsty battle and the Paris crowd is going to experience a memorable night as the highlight of the show. To WWE, it is not another international event, it is a historical event that unites nostalgia, rivalry, and the possibility of life-defining moments.
