Security forces thwarted a suspected terror attack on Thursday afternoon at the Tamar checkpoint near the entrance to Hebron’s Admot Yishai neighbourhood.
Statement of Military
According to the military, a man approached the checkpoint carrying a suspicious object and ignored repeated calls to halt. Troops responded with warning shots before opening live fire as part of standard security procedure.
The suspect was wounded, neutralised at the scene, and given initial treatment by military medics. He was later evacuated in serious condition to Shaare Zedek Medical Centre in Jerusalem.
Authorities are investigating whether the item carried by the suspect was an improvised weapon or a non-lethal object such as a toy. At this stage, no Israeli security personnel were injured in the incident.
