Monday Night Raw fans were also blessed with a touching news as Naomi announced that she is pregnant. The news did not take long to reach the ears of the wrestling community including one of her closest friends and a former WWE teammate, Mercedes Mone.
Longtime Friendship and Wrestling Success
The friendship between Mercedes Mone and Naomi dates back to more than a decade, developed both in and out of the ring. The two have previously held WWE Women Tag Team titles together when Mone in the company was known as Sasha Banks. They have a good chemistry and respect each other even though both of them left WWE in 2022.
Mon Naomi, however, has returned to WWE in 2024 after an outstanding debut in TNA, winning the WWE Women Wrestling World Championship earlier this year and relinquishing to announce her pregnancy.
Mone Excited About Becoming an Auntie
After her AEW Dynamite match on Wednesday, Mone quoted in The Takedown on SI to get her reaction to Naomi making her announcement.
“Yeah, I’m an auntie,” Mone said. “I’m excited. I was so excited for the news, and she told me you’re going to be an auntie, I was like, ‘Oh my God, I cannot wait to see a little baby Trinity.’ And I really hope it’s a girl. But I just honestly hope it’s so healthy, and she has a healthy pregnancy.”
The excitement portrayed by Mone points to the close bond between the two despite the fact that they are now in different promotions and the friendship is just as strong as it was. Fans have applauded Mone on her emotional response which is indicative of the supportive character of women wrestling fraternity.
Naomi’s Recent WWE Journey
Naomi made a comeback to the WWE at the 2024 Royal Rumble, as she entered the Women’s Royal Rumble match. She has also since formed a union with Bianca Belair and newcomer Jade Cargill which has given some good storylines and action in the ring. It was also Naomi who was the one who emerged out as the attacking woman who put Cargill sideways last winter and a decisive match in WrestleMania.
Naomi would receive a career first by cashing in her Money in the Bank briefcase to win the WWE Women’s World Championship, although she lost the championship back to Cargill at Evolution. This title reign increased her position on the Raw roster and made her one of the best talents in WWE.
Mone’s Support for Naomi’s Next Chapter
Mone continues to root Naomi in AEW, cheering her friend and her personal and professional accomplishments.
“She is my sister for life. I am so proud of her and everything that she has accomplished, and it’s just so perfect to see how far she’s come and just to experience this next chapter in her life and her career,” Mone shared. “I’m along for the ride as a fan, for her. I mean, cheering her on all the way from AEW. So, it’s amazing.”
The wrestling community has been very supportive of Naomi pregnancy news and with Mone support, it is apparent that the relationship between the two stars will remain very inspirational to the fans both in and out of the ring.
