Even as Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi is continuing with his Voter Adhikar Yatra in Bihar, his sister and party’s General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra joined him in the yatra from Supaul on Tuesday and will also offer prayers at Janki temple, the birthplace of Mata Sita in Sitamarhi on Wednesday.

The 10th day of Yatra resumed after a day break from Hussain Chowk in Supaul on Tuesday, with Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav, VIP’s Mukesh Sahni and CPI ML’s Deepankar Bhattacharya and passed through several areas like Madhubani, Jhanjharpur and then reached Darbhanga for night break.

Rahul Gandhi once again trained his guns at the BJP-led government at the centre and targeted Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Slamming Shah, Rahul Gandhi said: “Amit Shah has said many times that the BJP government will last for 40-50 years. So, it got me thinking, how does he know that they will be in power for 40-50 years? This was a strange statement.”

He made the comments in Madhubani during his yatra.

The Gandhi scion attacking the BJP said that now the truth has come out before the country that they (BJP) do ‘vote chori’.

“It started in Gujarat, then it came to the national level in 2014, and then to other states,” the former Congress chief alleged.

Meanwhile, Priyanka Gandhi, who is also the Wayanad MP warned people against the attempts of theft of their votes by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) saying it may end up in taking away the very basis of their citizenship and right to various welfare schemes and employment.

Addressing the public here, she said “when Prime Minister Narendra Modi was talking about the parliamentary elections that the Congress will steal your buffaloes, he was actually stealing your votes himself at the time”.

She said, the BJP had not only stolen the votes of people, it had also stolen their jobs and big public sector companies.

The Congress leader alleged that the BJP had committed theft at every level.

Cautioning people against letting their votes be stolen, Priyanka Gandhi said, “not only is the vote the foundation of democracy, it is the identity of the people”.

She said: “If today your vote is stolen, tomorrow your citizenship might be in danger. And you will not remain entitled to various welfare schemes of the government.”

The 16-day yatra, which began on August 17 from Sasaram, will conclude with a pad yatra in Patna on September 1 before covering over 1,300 km across the State, where Assembly elections are due later this year.

The yatra has so far covered Aurangabad, Gayaji, Nawada, Sheikhpura, Lakhisarai, Munger, Katihar, Bhagalpur, Araria, Purnea, Madhubani, Darbhanga districts. Further, it will pass through Sitamarhi, West Champaran, Saran, Bhojpur (Ara) and Patna districts.
