This will be the first time the WWE Crown Jewel will not be in Saudi Arabia. Rather, the high-value live show will be coming to Perth, Australia, later in the fall. The performance is scheduled on Saturday, 11 October in RAC Arena.
WWE Crown Jewel Moves Beyond Riyadh
The event traditionally was associated with Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, though the move has already yielded great interest. To this point, the only information that is confirmed is the appearance of John Cena. The move of WWE to Australia has left many fans wondering what would be the traditions that would be taken forward to this new venue.
The introduction of the Men and Women Crown Jewel Championships was done last year during the show. These were some of the memorable names that were created after a one night only showdown amongst the four world champions of WWE. The idea seemed to be a celebration of prestige, and it is not clear whether the same format is going to be repeated this year.
Liv Morgan won the first Women Crown Jewel as she defeated Nia Jax at the Crown Jewel 2023. In the men division, Cody Rhodes turned in the night to win the crown jewel of the Men, making him the inaugural Men Crown Jewel Champion.
The Future of Crown Jewel Championships
People thought that the titles would be an annual event with such impressive debuts. Fans thought that these exclusive championships would be defended at all the Crown Jewel events no matter the host city. But, this time the insiders are indicating that WWE is turning a new corner.
A report by BodySlam indicates that at this point the plan is that the championships will not resume this year. Their report made it clear that no one ever goes home with the belts. Rather, they are kept on display at the WWE Experience attraction in Riyadh.
Rings Instead of Belts at Crown Jewel
The true prize for the champions, it turns out, is not the belt itself but a custom-made ring. The report explained, “While championship belts are awarded at Crown Jewel, the winners do not take them home. Instead, the championship belts are displayed at the WWE Experience attraction in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The winners of the Crown Jewel Championship matches receive a large ring, similar to a Super Bowl ring, as their prize.”
Such a revelation implies that Crown Jewel can include new matches even without making the belts the focus of the narrative. Rather than the special title idea, perhaps WWE can look to even more spectacle and large-name rivalries.
Potential Match-Ups for October
Had WWE chosen to make another round of the Crown Jewel Championship, there would have only been one fighter who could have returned to the same. This would be Cody Rhodes who would have rekindled his feud with Seth Rollins in a WWE Champion vs World Heavyweight Champion match.
On the women side, Tiffany Stratton was to be defending the WWE Women Championship against Naomi. But the recent troubles of Stratton call her reign into question. She lost the title to IYO SKY on Raw and it is unclear what her future is.
Meanwhile, Naomi is booked to appear in the following episode of Raw where she will probably discuss her title reign and her future. We can learn something about her potential involvement as the central figure in the high-profile event in October by her statements.
