Donald Trump Targets ‘Inaccurate’ and ‘Costly’ Mail-in Voting & Voting Machines, Vows to Eliminate Them

US President Trump said he will sign an executive order before next year’s midterms to target mail-in voting and voting machines, claiming fraud. Experts say most Americans use hand-marked paper ballots, considered safest, and there is no evidence that mail-in ballots or machines cause widespread fraud.

US President Donald Trump said on Monday that he plans to sign an executive order before next year’s midterm elections. He said he will lead a movement against mail-in voting and voting machines across the country, local media reports noted.

“I am going to lead a movement to get rid of MAIL-IN BALLOTS and also the Highly ‘Inaccurate’, Very Expensive, and Seriously Controversial VOTING MACHINES, which cost ten times more than accurate Watermark Paper, which is faster and leaves NO DOUBT…” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

Donald Trump Alleges Mail in Voting Leads to ‘Voter Fraud’

Trump claimed that the US is the only country using mail-in voting and said other countries stopped it after facing “massive voter fraud,” reports added.

He added, “WE WILL BEGIN THIS EFFORT, WHICH DEMOCRATS WILL STRONGLY OPPOSE BECAUSE THEY CHEAT LIKE NEVER BEFORE, by signing an EXECUTIVE ORDER to bring HONESTY to the 2026 Midterm Elections.”

He also said, “The States are just an ‘agent’ of the Federal Government when counting votes. They must follow what the Federal Government, represented by the President, tells them to do, FOR THE GOOD OF OUR COUNTRY.”

Experts Reject Trump’s Claim Regarding Voting Machines

According to a 2022 report, most Americans vote using hand-marked paper ballots. About 70% of registered voters live in areas that mainly use these ballots, according to Verified Voting, a group tracking voting technology. Around 23% use ballot marking devices, which let voters select choices electronically and create a paper record that can be scanned. The remaining 7% use direct recording electronic (DRE) machines, which store votes directly on a computer, reports added.

Also, experts say hand-marked paper ballots are considered the safest method because they leave a physical record of every vote, while machines can sometimes fail or be hacked. Despite Trump’s claims, there is no evidence that mail-in voting or voting machines cause widespread fraud in the US.
