Things aren’t looking so rosy for Jolly LLB 3 right now. Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi, who are headlining the film, have both been slapped with legal notices.

A Pune court got involved after lawyer Wajid Khan Bidkar filed a complaint, arguing the movie takes potshots at the legal system and makes a mockery of court proceedings.

Why has Jolly LLB 3 run into legal trouble?

Lawyer Wajid Khan Bidkar is not mincing words. He says Jolly LLB 3 paints the judiciary in a bad light and drags the reputation of lawyers through the mud. He’s especially riled up over a scene where judges are referred to as “mamu,” which, sure, might just be street slang, but he thinks it’s disrespectful.

The court’s now called both Akshay and Arshad to show up on September 28. That’s the date circled on everyone’s calendar. No word yet on what’s next.

And, this isn’t the first time this film’s gotten heat. Back in May, Chandrabhan, who heads up the Ajmer District Bar Association, filed his complaint. His take? The Jolly LLB franchise is out here dragging the Indian judicial system through the mud, again.

Chandrabhan’s pretty blunt about it. He says the movie shows judges and lawyers in a “humorous and indecent” light, and he even asked the court to hit pause on the film’s shoot.

Jolly LLB 3 controversy explained

According to Wajid Khan Bidkar’s statement, given how the first two movies went, the filmmakers don’t seem to give a damn about the dignity of the judiciary or the Constitution.

Wajid Khan Bidkar is not happy that filming is happening all around Ajmer, including at the DRM office, and claims the actors aren’t taking the reputation of the courts seriously.

For context, the Jolly LLB series kicked off in 2013, with Arshad Warsi and Saurabh Shukla in the main roles. Akshay Kumar stepped in for the sequel in 2017, with Huma Qureshi joining the cast. Now, Jolly LLB 3 is bringing together Akshay, Arshad, Saurabh Shukla, Huma Qureshi, Amrita Rao, and Gajraj Rao.

The film is produced by Star Studio18 and directed by Subhash Kapoor.
