Asian Cup 2025 India Squad: The selection panel headed by Ajit Agarkar has announced the 15-man team of India which will participate in the Asia Cup 2025. Suryakumar Yadav will captain the side and be assisted by Shubman Gill. In the continental event, India will be in Group A together with Pakistan, UAE, and Oman.

Asia Cup 2025 Schedule and Venues

India will begin their title defence against UAE on September 10 in Dubai. The much awaited game against Pakistan will be played on September 14, in Dubai. On September 19 they play their last group match against Oman in Abu Dhabi.

The tournament, which starts on September 9 and ends on September 28, is of T20 format. The competition was initially to be held in India but was moved to the UAE because of the existing diplomatic tensions between India and Pakistan. Super Four will then be followed by the final on September 28 after the group stage.

Key Players in India Squad for Asia Cup 2025

The 15-man team features the comeback of India Test skipper Shubman Gill to the T20I mix. The 25-year old opener has not played a T20I since July 2024, when he played against Sri Lanka, doubling up as the vice-captain. Gill will play the same role in the Asia Cup 2025.

Jasprit Bumrah has also been inducted into the bowling department of India. Jitesh Sharma, the last T20I that he played was in January 2024, is also in. However, they have left out Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shreyas Iyer too; that is another massive oversight by the selectors.

Shreyas Iyer, Mohammed Siraj Missed the Squad

Mohammed Shami was not selected in the India team despite his form in the previous matches to play in the Asia Cup 2025. He last played against England this year. Mohammed Siraj was also ignored, and the IPL 2025 Purple Cap holder Prasidh Krishna could not make the final 15.

Ajit Agarkar revealed that Prasidh Krishna, Washington Sundar, Riyan Parag, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Dhruv Jurel will be standbys. This provides India cover in departments in the event of change in the middle of the tournament.

Even the selection meeting was delayed because of the heavy rainfall in Mumbai that caused flights to be disrupted to the BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia and other selectors.

High-Voltage India vs Pakistan Clash in Asia Cup 2025

The Group stage will be crowned by the India vs Pakistan match on September 14 in Dubai. The intense game will be a challenge to both teams as they gear towards T20 World Cup next year. The way India will perform in this contest will most probably determine their campaign momentum.

India being the defending champions will look forward to holding the title of the Asia Cup 2025, and Suryakumar Yadav will lead the team in his first ICC major event. The experience through players such as Bumrah and the youth such as Abhishek Sharma provides the team with a source of stability and renewal.

India will start their journey to the trophy with their opening game against UAE and will be led by a new coach but the expectations remain the same, to excel in the big arena.

India’s complete squad includes: Suryakumar Yadav (captain), Shubman Gill (vice-captain), Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dube, Axar Patel, Jitesh Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Varun Chakaravarthy, Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav, Sanju Samson, Harshit Rana.
