Aamir Khan could be the Bollywood’s ‘perfectionist’, but when it comes to classic romance, even he admits he turns emotional. In a candid conversation, the actor shared that Kuch Kuch Hota Hai left him teary-eyed, proving that Shah Rukh Khan’s iconic love story still has the power to move even fellow superstars.

Calling himself ‘a sucker for romance’, Aamir Khan spoke about the Karan Johar directorial and how deeply it resonated with him. The actor admitted that he cried while watching the film. He also praised Shah Rukh Khan’s performance in the film, acknowledging the charm he brought to Rahul. Released in 1998, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai has long been hailed as one of cult classics in Hindi cinema.

Aamir Khan On Romance And Why DDLJ Worked

In an interview with Mirchi Plus, Aamir said, “I am a sucker for romance. I really love romantic films. I cry a lot while watching romantic movies. I remember watching Shah Rukh Khan’s film — the one that was Karan Johar’s first film, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Reena and I were watching it at Raj Kamal theatre. I tend to cry a lot anyway. It was a very emotional film, and I cried a lot. Unfortunately, Reena was wearing a dress with a zari-work dupatta. I ended up using her dupatta to wipe my tears, and my face ended up getting scratched.”

He added, “I am a sucker for pure romantic films. Like Fanaa. So when this story (Ek Din) came to me, I really liked it.”

The Bollywood superstar also spoke on King Khan’s 1995 film Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, helmed by Aditya Chopra. “I think there used to be more romantic films in the 90s, as far as I remember. Like Shah Rukh Khan’s Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. Great music. Salman Khan had them too. I have actually done fewer romantic films. There was a lot of romance in the 90s, and I feel this film Ek Din is a pure, magical old-fashioned romantic film that is coming after a long time,” he said.

Aamir’s Admiration For Shah Rukh Isn’t New

This isn’t the first time Aamir has spoken warmly about Shah Rukh. The actor has recently expressed interest in collaborating with both Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan, teasing that the three Khans are open to doing a project together if the right script arrives.

His latest Kuch Kuch Hota Hai confession also comes amid renewed love for the Shah Rukh-Kajol classic, which continues to be celebrated globally decades after release. For many of us, Aamir admitting he cried over a Shah Rukh film feels like a crossover moment in itself.

Aamir Khan On Professional Front

Aamir is gearing up for Lahore 1947 as producer, while speculation around his future acting projects continues to grow. Shah Rukh is preparing for his much-awaited action spectacle King, which also stars his daughter Suhana Khan.
