Air Hostess Suicide Thane: A 21-year-old air hostess was found dead at her residence in Maharashtra’s Thane district late last month, according to reports. Police have registered a case of abetment of suicide against her former partner, reports officials said on Wednesday.
According to reports, the woman was found hanging at her home in Kalyan (East) on the night of December 28, 2025.
Mother Of Air Hostess Raised Alarm After Calls Went Unanswered
According to the complaint filed by the air hostess’s mother, she repeatedly tried to contact her daughter on the night of December 28 but received no response. Growing concerned, a neighbour was asked to check on her.
The neighbour went to the woman’s residence at Anusuya Niwas in Kalyan and found her hanging from a ceiling hook, police told agencies.
She was immediately rushed to Rukminibai Hospital, where doctors declared her dead, reports added, quoting officials.
Police Probe Into Air Hostess Suicide Led to FIR Against Former Partner
Following the death of the air hostess, the Kolsewadi police launched an investigation and examined her mobile phone and financial records. Based on the findings, a First Information Report (FIR) was registered on January 10 against her 23-year-old former partner on charges of abetment of suicide.
“The FIR was registered after examining her phone and bank statements,” an official told agencies.
Family Of Air Hostess Alleges Threats, Abuse, Financial Exploitation
According to reports, the victim’s family told police that she had been in a relationship with the accused since 2020. According to the complaint, the man allegedly refused to marry her, threatened to make photos of the air hostess public, and had recently entered into a relationship with another woman.
The family claimed these actions caused severe distress to the young woman and drove her to take the extreme step.
Chat Records, Injury Marks Point to Repeated Assaults of Air Hostess
After the last rites, the family reviewed the deceased’s phone and bank records and raised several grievances with the police.
“Chat records and marks found on her body suggest that the accused frequently assaulted her,” the official told agencies.
According to reports, quoting police, investigators also found financial transactions indicating that the accused had taken several lakhs of rupees from the air hostess under the pretext of marriage.
The most recent transaction was recorded on December 16, 2025, just days before her death, according to her bank account statements, reports added.
Based on the mother’s complaint and preliminary findings, police registered a case against the accused under Section 108 (abetment of suicide) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
“The matter is under investigation,” reports quoting officials said.
