Chennai residents, take not- a scheduled power shutdown has been announced in parts of the city due to maintenance and infrastructure works. The temporary disruption is expected to last for up to five hours, affecting several neighourhoods on the notified date. According to officials, the electricity supply will be suspended for 5 hours straight and restored once the maintenance activities are completed.

5-hour Power Supply Cut From Februrary 7
Electricity supply will be temporarily halted in the listed areas on Saturday February 7, 2026 from 9 am to 2 pm to facilitate maintenance work. Officals have stated that power will be restored earlier than 2 pm if the scheduled work is completed ahead of time.
During this period, many several areas across North, West, and South-West Chennai will receive no electricity.
