Today, Prince Harry marched with his brother William and King Charles as they carried Queen Elizabeth’s casket from Buckingham Palace to Westminister Hall. Harry arrived in a “mourning suit,” as opposed to the formal military dress worn by King Charles and Prince William.
Since he and his bride, Meghan Markle, abdicated their regal responsibilities in 2020, Prince Harry is not permitted to wear a military uniform. Members of the royal family that aren’t now at work include Harry and Meghan. William is now the next in line to the throne and devotes himself entirely to his regal responsibilities.
At any of the five customary occasions leading up to the late monarch’s funeral, including the last vigil planned to take place in Westminster Hall, Harry, the Duke of Sussex, won’t be allowed to wear the military uniform.
The 37-year-old will attend all the events wearing a mourning suit, according to a statement from Harry’s representative. The spokeswoman stated that Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex, “would wear a mourning suit during festivities commemorating his grandmother.”
During his ten years in the Army, Prince Harry advanced to the rank of Captain and served twice in Afghanistan. He continues to collaborate with other military members, financing assistance for injured men and women.
